How to Find a Documented Vessel?

On our website, you have two avenues for acquiring Coast Guard information: you can either utilize the Coast Guard database or submit a request for an Abstract of Title.

For a NVDC vessel search through our site, simply click on “Documented Vessel Search at Maritime Documentation Center.” From there, input the vessel’s official number and/or HIN number.

This search will unveil a wealth of details about the vessel, including its service information, tonnage data, particulars/dimensions, official number/HIN/flag details, and more. Additionally, you can access information regarding the vessel’s present Certificate of Documentation status, issuance date, expiration date, and related data.

However, please note that the managing owner’s information for the vessel won’t be accessible, as this information has been restricted from public access for several years. To obtain this information, you’ll need to apply for an Abstract of Title. You can initiate this process here:

The resulting Abstract of Title will encompass the managing owner’s information, along with a comprehensive list of the vessel’s ownership lineage. Furthermore, you will receive insights into the status of any existing liens or mortgages against the vessel, if applicable.
